Community Development
Deadline: November 3, 2005
The U.S. Department of Agriculture requests applications for the
Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI). RCDI provides grants
to qualified intermediary organizations to provide financial and technical
assistance to recipients to develop their capacity and ability to
undertake projects related to housing, community facilities, or community
and economic development. $6 million expected to be available, 12

Sustainable Agriculture
Research and Education (SARE)
Deadline: November 15, November 17 and December 12, 2005 depending
on program
SARE is offering grants of up to $10,000 per individual farmer and
up to $20,000 for groups of three or more farmers who practice on-site
experimentation of sustainable agriculture practices. Grants are also
offered to professionals and producers who work co-operatively to
implement sustainable agriculture processes. Professional Program
development grants are available to professionals or universities
who educate producers about sustainable agriculture. Depending on
the type of project, grants of up to $100,000 may be rewarded.
Department
of Energy (DOE) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small
Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs
Deadline: December 2, 2005
The objective of these programs include increasing private sector
commercialization of technology developed through DOE supported R&D,
stimulating technological innovation in the private sector, and improving
the return on investment from federally funded research for economic
and social benefits to the Nation. A draft
list of the 49 topic areas of interest is posted. $29 million
expected to be available, 290 awards anticipated.

National
Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs
Deadline: December 8, 2005
The primary objective of the NSF SBIR/STTR Program is to increase
the incentive and opportunity for small firms to undertake cutting
edge, high risk, high quality scientific, engineering, or science/engineering
education research that would have a high potential economic payoff
if the research is successful. Broad areas of interest include: Biotechnology,
Chemical based Technologies, and Emerging Opportunities. $12.5 million
expected to be available, 150 awards anticipated.

Study
and Analysis of Strategies for the Technology Innovation in the Transportation
Sector
Deadline: December 14, 2005
EPA is announcing a grant for the study and analysis of innovative strategies
for encouraging the development and adoption of new vehicle and fuel technologies
for control of emissions including consideration of impact on criteria pollutants,
toxic emissions and greenhouse gas emissions. Studies and analyses should consider
barriers for technological innovation and opportunities for overcoming these
barriers.

of Transportation (DOT) Demonstration Projects and Technology Advancements
Under the Next Generation High-Speed Rail Program
Deadline: December 30, 2005
DOT announced a grant of up to $500,000 for supporting the advancement
of high-speed rail, particularly on existing infrastructure, by improving,
adapting, and demonstration potentially more cost-effective technologies
which could have wide application in U.S. corridors.

of Energy (DOE) Industrial Assessment Center Project
Deadline: January 17, 2006
DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)
Golden Field Office (GO) is soliciting applications for Industrial
Assessment Centers (IACs or Centers). The IAC Program enables
small and medium sized manufacturers (those with energy costs between
$100,000 and $2.5 million per year) to have comprehensive assessments
performed at no cost to the manufacturer. Teams of engineering faculty
and students from the Centers conduct assessments and provide training
to help regional manufacturers operate more efficiently and improve
competitiveness.
Feather River
AQMD Incentives for Purchasing Lower-Emission Heavy-Duty Engines
from the Carl Moyer Program
Deadline: January 20, 2006
Applications will be weighed in terms of affected population, pollutant
health impacts, effective emission reductions, viability, and cost-effectiveness.
The program is open to all on-road, off-road, and stationary agricultural
pump Moyer-qualifying projects.

of Agriculture (USDA), Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
Phase II Grant
Deadline: February 2, 2006
The purpose of the SBIR program is to provide an opportunity for
US-owned, for-profit small business firms to submit innovative, applied,
research and development projects that address important problems
facing American agriculture and have the potential to lead to significant
public benefit if the research is successful. Phase II is the
principal research and development effort and often involves moving
the project from the laboratory to the field or the development of

Ludwick Family Foundation
Deadline: March 31, 2006 and August 31, 2006
The Foundation supports a wide variety of organizations and programs
in areas including, but not limited to, the environment and education.
Grants are provided for tangible items such as new vehicles or equipment,
equipment replacement and modernization, improvements to facilities,
and educational materials.

West Airlines (AWA)
Deadline: April 1, 2006
AWA offers bi-annual grants for non-profit organizations in Arizona
and Nevada that support protecting the environment, environmental
education and conservation. They award up to $3.5 million annually.
