The objective of the Marine Vessels and Ports Workgroup is to share information and seek funding for a variety of projects including: alternative fuel use for vessels and on-shore equipment, equipment retrofits and early retirement, and cold ironing for ocean-going vessels and plug-in power for on-shore equipment. Projects
- Competitive DERA 2012: Port of Long Beach Emission Reduction Project: the Port of Long Beach received $1,344,146 to reduce diesel emissions by retrofitting and/or replacing sixteen (16) pieces of port cargo handling equipment.
- Competitive DERA 2012 Tribal: Tulalip Tribe of the Tulalip Reservation of Washington – Fishing Fleet Certified Engine Repower Project Phase II: the Tulalip Tribe of the Tulalip Reservation (Washington State) received $346,620 to repower marine fisheries vessels with new, low-emission diesel engines.
- Competitive DERA 2012: Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) Cargo Handling Exhaust Control Upgrades: the ODEQ received $132,207 in funding to reduce diesel emission by retrofitting six (6) port cargo handling equipment.
- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act: Reducing Diesel Emissions at the Port of Los Angeles: The City of Los Angeles Harbor Department, also known as Port of Los Angeles, was selected for $1,991,750 in funding to replace, repower, and/or retrofit a total of 27 pieces of equipment, including harbor craft, currently in operation at the port.
- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act: Reducing Diesel Emissions at the Port of Long Beach, California: The Port of Long Beach Diesel Emissions Reduction Project was selected for $4,008,250 in funding to implement a large-scale diesel emission reduction project involving equipment replacements, engine repowers, and/or engine retrofits for 112 pieces of cargo handling equipment including rubber-tired gantry cranes, and two harbor craft currently in operation at the port.
- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act: Port of Tacoma Shorepower Project: Port of Tacoma received $1,488,080 to install a shore-side electrical connection system and alternative maritime power at the Totem Ocean Trailer Express Terminal (TOTE) Terminal.
