Revolving Loan Fund to Reduce Locomotive Emissions

Location: Entire west coast region

EPA is providing a grant of $150,000 to The Climate Trust, with $450,000 in matching funds. This project creates a revolving debt and equity fund (the Fund) to finance sustainable and replicable diesel emission reductions for locomotives and rail equipment along the West Coast. Over a ten-year period, this project will reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide by an estimated 1,096 tons, particulate matter by 28 tons, carbon monoxide by 318 tons, and hydrocarbons by 200 tons. The Fund also expects to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 14,000 metric tons and mitigate noise pollution.
