E-diesel is a blend of diesel fuel, up to 15 percent ethanol,
and additives to keep the ethanol emulsified under
all conditions. On-road and off-road fleet demonstrations
have shown E-diesel has the potential to reduce emissions
from diesel engines, especially particulate emissions. Currently
E-diesel fuels are considered experimental. There are no nonroad
restrictions on E-diesel use, but because the addition of
ethanol lowers the flash point of the fuel, additional safety
precautions may be added. For on-road use of E-diesel, special
permission must be obtained from the U.S. Environmental Protection
