Clean Diesel Hospital Zones

Location: Portland, OR

October 16, 2006: Clean Diesel Hospital Zones Project

EPA, City of Portland, State of Oregon, and Other Partners Present Innovative Clean Air Initiatives
At Portland's South Waterfront, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency presented a $250,000 grant to the Clean Diesel Hospitals Leadership Group for the "Clean Diesel Hospital Zones" project, in which four of Oregon's hospitals will take steps to reduce emissions from their operations to protect local air quality.

To kick off the "Clean Diesel Hospital Zones" project, Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), Legacy Health System, Providence Health System and Kaiser Hospitals signed a commitment to reduce diesel emissions from their own operations. They will next direct their suppliers, vendors, service providers and contractors working on new construction projects to reduce diesel emissions.
