West Coast Collaborative Public Workshop Field Trips
I Port of Seattle Seaport Tour
The Port of Seattle is offered a 90 minute tour of the Seattle Seaport
featuring stops at the Terminal 30 Cruise Ship facility, Harbor Island
and Terminal 5 Public Access area. Highlights included details about
the Princess Cruise Line cold ironing project, Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel
Fuel, the cruise bus anti-idling effort, the Cargo Handling Equipment
Retrofit project, terminal efficiency improvements, biodiesel, and
the pedestrian/bike path infrastructure among other things.

II Port of Seattle Seattle-Tacoma International Airport 3rd Runway
There was a tour of the Port of Seattle’s 3rd Runway
construction project at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The tour focused on environmental mitigation efforts in place to
reduce impacts during construction. This includes the use of ultra-low
sulfur diesel for all on-road vehicles and non-road equipment.

III Washington Ferry System and Bainbridge Island/Kitsap County
A multi-modal field trip to Bainbridge Island illsutrated the
many retrofit and fuel-switching efforts underway around the Puget
Sound. The tour travelled by foot, ferry, and transit bus to
visit a local school district’s bus barn. Along the way, regional
experts talked about the retrofit and fuel-switching projects
they’ve undertaken for the Washington State Ferry system, Kitsap
Transit system, and the Bainbridge Island School District.
